Informal events

Dog and Man The POTOC local events provide courses for beginners and club orienteers of different standards. Registration is from 10:00 am to 12:00. To offset the cost of staging these events, a fee of £5·00/£2·50 will be charged (reduced to £4·00/£2·00 for BOF members of POTOC). It is best to come early, at 10:00 if possible.

To view a map showing the location of an event, click on the map icon following the event date. You can also view a picture showing signs used near an event to give directions.

At the event, you will be asked to complete a registration slip. If you would prefer to prepare your registration slip[s] in advance, you can download blank slips.

POTOC normally offer 4 courses at each local event:

Easy
equivalent to Yellow, about 1.0 - 1.5 km (course mainly on paths)
Moderate
equivalent to Orange, about 2.0 - 2.5 km (course sometimes veering off paths)
Short/Long Hard
equivalent to Green or Light Green, about 4.0 - 5.0 km (difficult courses designed for experienced orienteers)

At some events an exercise (for example, a map-memory course) may replace one of the Hard courses.

The POTOC annual membership fee (not including British Orienteering membership) is £12·00 for a family, £8·00 for an individual senior, £3·00 for an individual junior, £5·00 for Social or Second Club membership or £12·00 for a group. Contact the New Members Secretary.
